Geovision Support for IPhone, Treo, Windows Mobile

I have been a big fan of GeoVision for quite some time. However - one if it's most glaring limitations was the inability to even view still images on an IPhone or Treo device. The devices like to "pretend" they are real web browsers, but when it comes time to run the Java applet, the phone does nothing - AND you can't direct the phone to pull up the cell phone viewer within the GeoVision application.

This all stems from the "User-Agent" header generated by the Iphone/Treo. Geovision looks at this tag and if it sees "mozilla" in the user-agent field, it attempts to send your browser to the java viewer. The application also searches for "msie" to display the full application for internet explorer browsers.

Here is how I worked around it: I loaded up the geovision web cam server into a hexidecimal editor, located the text string "mozilla" and changed it to ".net" (this string only appears in internet explorer installed on PC's) since this text is not in the header of pocket IE, the Iphone or the Treo, it assumes it is a cell phone and throws the browser to the cell phone interface.

Disadvantages:

This patched file will effectively "break" the ability to use the java viewer - which may or may not work for your situation. That is why I recommend you rename the original file so you can easily revert back to the original software function.
